The Covid-19 pandemic has dealt a devastating blow to the local economy in Bali, as the closing of its borders to tourists has resulted in widespread loss of income. The situation has left many local residents struggling to make ends meet, as they are often underpaid and must work multiple jobs just to support themselves and their families. Despite the challenges, the community remains resilient and determined to find solutions to their financial difficulties.
As Indonesia is geographically spread out across thousands of islands, many areas within the country are difficult to access and many farming communities are tucked away in the secluded depths of the rainforest. These rural communities may lack knowledge as well and may face problems such as malnutrition in their foods. This can be similar for farms and many of them may be failing because of high logistic expenses for suppliers and distributors to access their farms.
Indonesia is an agricultural-rich country, but many of its farmers face challenges in growing crops due to a lack of access to water for irrigation. This limits their ability to cultivate crops throughout the year and can lead to decreased yields and lower income. In some areas, farmers are forced to rely on rainfall alone, making their livelihoods even more precarious. This lack of access to water for irrigation not only affects farmers' income and food security, but also contributes to the larger issues of poverty and hunger in Indonesia. To address this challenge, there is a need for investment in irrigation systems and other water management solutions that can provide farmers with a reliable source of water for their crops.
